I don’t know how else to name this post, because I’m just obsessed with my logo being chosen for the Statue of Liberty’s 125th Anniversary.

In case some need encouragement, I will giveaway a 12 pack of personalized note cards – your choice from my shop – to two lucky people who vote. You must submit a screen shot of the voting page with LOGO ” i ” selected by clicking on the ‘submit your entry‘ below then ‘Sign this Guestbook’. You can get one additional entry by leaving a comment at the end of this post. Because of the nature of this giveaway, only comments submitted to the guestbook and posted here count toward your entry. I also realize I emailed some of you prior to this post, so a screen shot of the page saying you voted already is fine too.

Instructions of getting screen shots:

On a PC – Alt + Print Screen Key will capture the current window. You will then have to paste it into a photo program like PS Elements or Paint (sorry guys, I’m not a windows expert anymore, feel free to send me better instructions)

On a MAC – Click Command + Shift + 4; select the area of the screen you want to capture; file will be saved to your desktop.

The jist of the story is that this past spring, I submitted a series of logos to the contest which was open to all students at my school, New Jersey City University. The committee chose one of my five to be in the final top 10 logos. I didn’t think about the contest too much until I found out I was in the top 10. Now, I NEED to drive it home. Yes, I want it realllll bad! I want to win! School has been such a challenge for me and this would help sweeten the pot. Read more in my Artist Statement below.

My Statement:

This logo is part of a series, designed to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. Hi, my name is Roanne and I lived for 12 years on Skyline Drive in Jersey City, NJ (my first home in the US). From our porch, I enjoyed my view of the lovely lady. I didn’t realize how attached I’d become to her until we had to move. I missed simply seeing that icon. How poetic, that to me, an immigrant, the Statue of Liberty had become a symbol of home. As a resident of Jersey City, and it is such an honor for me to have the opportunity to contribute my design toward her 125th anniversary celebration. I tried to capture, not only the essence of this beautiful art work in my design, but as much of her symbolism as I could. I thank you in advance for your support in making my logo, the logo of choice for the lady’s 125th birthday.
